The 1838 United Kingdom shilling reverse shows the words 'ONE SHILLING' with the royal crown above, and a small scroll below. An open wreath, left branch olive, right branch oak, tied with a bow at the base surrounds the main design, with the date below.
The obverse features the head of young Queen Victoria facing left, with ribbons in her hair, and the surrounding legend: 'VICTORIA DEI GRATIA BRITANNIAR: REG: F:D:'
